Should I focus on strength training or cardio? Which do you do first during a workout? How do I choose a strength-training program? What is high-intensity training? How do I fit cardio into a busy schedule?
Danielle Pape, fitness expert and certified personal trainer at the Lake Health Wellness Institute, has the answers to these common questions and more!
Danielle’s advice
- Be sure you include strength training in your workout routine because it helps you burn calories even while at rest.
- Try doing strength training before your cardio during a workout, to make sure you’re not too fatigued to keep good form when working with weights.
- Don’t overdo cardio. If you do too much cardio, your body goes into a catabolic state where you end up burning lean muscle tissue instead of fat.
- If you’re tight on time, spread out your cardio throughout the day - it all adds up!
