Flu Season Is Here

Flu season is upon us, so for the best protection, get your annual influenza vaccine. Experts recommend that everyone over the age of six months receive the vaccine every year. Learn more:

Did you know:

  • Different flu vaccines are available and approved for people of different ages, different health conditions and higher risks?

  • Among adults, those 65 and older have the most complications, hospitalizations and deaths due to the flu?

  • Pregnant women and people with asthma, diabetes or other chronic conditions are at high risk for serious complications from the flu?

  • Getting your flu shot helps protect your family and others around you?

  • The flu vaccine takes about two weeks to become fully effective?

  • You should talk to your doctor before getting the vaccine if you are allergic to any of its ingredients, have had Guillain-Barré Syndrome or don’t feel well?

  • To minimize serious risk, getting the flu vaccine is crucial for everyone 50 and older, all caregivers, those with chronic conditions and residents of nursing homes or chronic care facilities?

  • You can still get the flu even if you get the vaccine if: you are exposed to the virus before your immunity develops (about two weeks), you are exposed to a non-covered strain of influenza or you have a chronic illness that prevents the development of full immunity?
